So Many Good People
Keith and I feel like we have just bounced from one meeting to the next these last couple of weeks. But they have been good meetings, with good people. There are so many selfless people all trying to help the good people of Kiribati. First, there were Elder and Sister Brock from USA. They were humanitarian missionaries here before covid. They started a desalination project that will bring clean water to the outer islands of Kiribati along with other countries here in the Pacific. They are still heading up this project as service missionaries. They were here on Tarawa this past week. We were privileged to join them in some of their meetings. It was amazing to watch them in action.

Next, there are Elder and Sister Brown. He is another service missionary couple from New Zealand. He is in charge of getting carpentry curriculum into all the church high schools in the Pacific Area. He brings in equipment and teaches for one semester to train the teacher in this new curriculum. He wants to get this curriculum and equipment into the government schools as well. We are working together to get a humanitarian project started to bring the equipment into the King George V and Elaine Bernacchi High School (KEV&EBS) - yes, that is actually the name of the school. We met with the principal of the school. He is a good leader. And then later that day we met with the ministry of education and KIT about getting an official certificate of completion for those students who pass the carpentry curriculum. This certificate would help them get a job after they graduate. Elder Brown has a long road ahead of him. But he is very passionate about this program and loves the students.
We met with the Rehab center at the hospital to finalize the order for another wheelchair project.
We had a zoom meetings with the area Welfare, Self Reliance, Humanitarian missionaries.
We met with the Pastor of the Assembly of God church.
I'm sure there are more meetings that I'm not thinking of. All of these meetings are on top of the usual meetings we have. And I didn't take pictures of them. Ugh - I think I'm brain dead.
Have I said how amazing Keith is. He is taking care of all the paperwork involved in our projects. Everything from getting contracts signed to getting purchase orders (PO) made. Lots and lots of paperwork. We are grateful our apartment has star link.

We have been helping to complete a project that was started 2 years ago to get solar power to the Dental clinic. There have been times when Elder and Sister Duke have had to work with no running water, or through power outages, or with faulty equipment. And they have the best attitude about it. They are truly making a difference one person at a time.

Wow! And I haven't even mentioned E/S Bennet, E/S Stoddard, E/S Frehner and E/S Tawita who are also serving here full time. See what I mean by SO MANY GOOD PEOPLE.
